Commodore Mary Freas: Commanding Officer (MerryMom4@aol.com)
Mary is the leader of our crew. She makes sure we get everything done when it needs to be done, and that it's done right. She is responsible for fulfilling our club's "Prime Directive," which is to have fun fostering interest in and local support for Star Trek; to sponsor activities like Trek and sci-fi movie premier parties, local Star Trek conventions, costume and holiday parties, Away Team events to out-of-town Star Trek conventions, and other fun events in connection with Trek for our members and the community as a whole; to bring Trek fans together in a place where we can exchange ideas in a spirit of brotherhood and openness; to keep our members informed of on-going developments in connection with STARFLEET and Star Trek; and to engage in community service for the benefit of all.
Mary lives in Amarillo, Texas. She was elected the Commanding Officer of the U.S.S. Palo Duro, NCC-61914, in July of 1995. She has been a Fleet member since 1994. Mary makes sure the Palo Duro charts a course towards the "second star on the right" in our not-for-profit cruise as a fan club dedicated to having fun, doing serious community service (we're supporters of the Ronald McDonald House of Amarillo, the U.S. Marine Corp Toys for Tots program, and other programs), and fostering the idea of that better future as set forth in the various Star Trek television shows, movies, and books.
Mary has been a Star Trek fan since the original series aired in the late 60's. Living in the central Panhandle of Texas, she helps our ship with one of its primary goals -- to seek out new Trek stars to bring to Amarillo, and new members to join our club.
In real life, Mary is the full time mother of three, an Avon representative, and a part-time legal secretary. As if this doesn't keep her busy enough, the other members of our club are ready to pitch in and do their part to keep her life really busy. :)
Beyond Star Trek and community service projects with the local chapter, Mary's other interests include bible studies and Cub Scouts.

As a founding member and First Officer, Margaret has the easy seat. She helps plan and run our monthly general meetings, which are usually held on the fourth Saturday of each month from 3:30 to 5:00 p.m.
Margaret has also been a Star Trek fan since The Original Series aired in the late '60s, and a member of STARFLEET since 1992.

Admiral Chuck Freas: Communications Officer
As Communications Officer, Chuck (who is also Chief Engineer) is responsible for publishing an on-time Trek Traxs, our ship's newsletter, which usually comes out via multiple e-mail posts. Chuck is responsible for ensuring that our newsletter posts are full of news, Trek and general sci-fi trivia, and science news of general interest to all Star Trek fans.
If you are interested in our newsletter, e-mail us for a newsletter subscription to the attention of Chuck or Mary Freas. If you want to be a full member of our club, which allows you to vote in our ship's elections and run for office, join STARFLEET and tell Fleet to assign your Fleet membership to the U.S.S. Palo Duro, NCC-61914, and then mail us the Fleet Membership Chapter Assignment Card which comes with all your other Fleet membership materials.
Our mailing address is: The Panhandle Star Trek Fan Club, P.O. Box 8942, Amarillo, Texas 79114-8942.
