WELCOME
to the Pack 1 Homepage!

Pack
1 is chartered by the PTA of Ridgecrest Elementary School
in Amarillo, Texas.
It is a Cub Scout Pack within
the
Golden Eagle District, Golden Spread Council,
in
the Southern Region of the Boy Scouts of America.

 |
Pack 1 meets for Den Meetings on Monday nights. Den meetings
usually begin at 7:00 and end at 8:00 pm. The exception
to Monday nights Scout meetings is if there is no school that day, there is
no Scout meeting that night ("no school = no scouts"). |
 | All
Adult
Leaders should be trained. A trained leader means a happier leader and
a much happier Scout Den. Here's information on essential Scout
Leader Basic Training, which is
available from the Golden Spread Council. Check the Schedule
of Events Calendar for training dates and times. |

Need
some program helps? Check out the Skit
Book! It's full of ideas for Cub Scout skits. Also, get a copy of
the Golden Spread Council's 2005 Pow Wow Book from the Scout Center. It's
chock full of program helps, songs, skits, ceremonies, crafts, outdoor
cooking recipes, campfire ideas, and other tips, helps and ideas for putting
on quality Pack and Den meetings! I'll have a link to our book in Adobe .pdf
format soon. Also, check out the website of the National Archive of
Pow Wow books. You can order Pow Wow books on CDs from the National
Archives. Finally, check out this great page
of Scouting related websites! |

Below is a map to Ridgecrest
Elementary, where Pack 1 meets for all Pack meetings. Unless the last Monday falls on a school or other holiday, Pack 1
meets on the last Monday of every month,
at 7:00 p.m. in the Ridgecrest Cafeteria. If the last Monday is a
holiday, then we meet on the next-to-the-last Monday of that
month. Also, we have no Den meetings on holidays. The general
rule is "if there's
school, there's Scouts; no school, no Scouts." |
 |
Pack meetings usually last about 45 minutes to 1 hour, and begin at 7:00
pm. We
sometimes have a short Pack Committee meeting
immediately after Pack meetings (15 to 20 minutes tops! Really!!).
If we don't have a committee meeting after a Pack meeting, we have Pack committee
meetings on Sunday afternoons as the need arises. These
Pack Committee meetings are "follow up" meetings to our first, and
main,
planning meeting held in August (usually before the start of each school
year). For example, at the August Pack Committee meeting we plan our Pack's entire year's
activities, from late-August thru July of the next year. |
 |
In
addition to Pack Committee meetings, from time to time we have meetings to
plan for specific Scout events, such as our annual Pinewood Derby or Blue
& Gold Banquet. Those committee meetings are on an irregular
basis, usually occurring from late September through February. |
